OptiSpheric® IOL R&D - Extensive Testing of Intraocular Lenses in Research and Development
he OptiSpheric® IOL R&D is specially designed for the analysis of single intraocular lenses in research and development. With the OptiSpheric® IOL R&D, important parameters of all types of lenses (monofocal, multifocal, trifocal, toric, aspheric and those with extended depth of focus (EDOF) – whether diffractive, refractive or sectors) can be measured and tested in air or in situ in accordance with ISO 11979. The comprehensive range of accessories and multiple adjustment options ensure precise and diverse measurements of all aspects that are crucial when developing a new lens design. For example, the imaging properties of the IOL are simulated in a tilted or decentered lens position after implantation.
The software is just as flexible as the hardware: individual, user-defined test processes can be performed or standard procedures stored for repetition at a later time.
Key Features:
- Optimized for use in research and development
- Measurement accuracy of 0.3 % and high repeatability
- Standard-compliant measurement of hydrophobic and hydrophilic lenses in air or in heatable in situ model eyes in accordance with ISO 11979
- Multiple adjustment options for extensive testing with various corneas and filters
- Easy measurement and testing of refractive power (nominal value for sphere, cylinder and addition), EFL and MTF through automated precise autofocus
- Universally suitable for all types of intraocular lenses: monofocal, spherically aberrated lenses, multifocal, trifocal, toric and aspheric IOLs and those with extended depth of focus (EDOF) (diffractive, refractive or sectors)
- Immediate evaluation of the measurement result with corresponding display through quality control with pass/fail analysis
- Traceability to independent international testing and measurement institutes such as NPL and NIST
Applications:
- Testing and analyzing intraocular lenses in research and development
- Measurement of:
- Refractive power (nominal value for sphere, cylinder and Addition)
- Effective focal length (EFL)
- Modulation transfer function (MTF and 2D MTF)
- Point and line spread function
- Orientation of the cylinder axis, orthogonality of the optical axes, and deviation of the markers from the cylindrical axis
- Radius of curvature (in air)
- Back focal length (BFL, in air)
- MTF focus scan (“through focus scan”)
- Energy distribution (MTF area)
- MTF Strehl ratio

OptiSpheric® IOL R&D Software
The software is simple and intuitive to use. All aspects of the data acquisition process, such as the initial referencing, control of the efficient and powerful autofocus system and calculation of the data, are controlled by the software and are fully automatic. The results are displayed in a clearly structured, easy-to-read format. The software package features menu-based user guidance and practical and convenient data management.
Key Features:
- Simplified operation due to predefined measuring procedures for various IOL types
- Quick system setup in just a few clicks
- Flexible and modular menu navigation that can be customized for different users (production, laboratory, administrator)
- Readily understandable measurement results through graphic displays and real-time display of the camera image
- Software-based correction of the refractive power in the case of temperature differences and/or longitudinal spherical aberration
- Efficient data input and output via database communication and optional link with barcode Reader
- Different modes enable the generation of individual, user-defined scripts for the measurement process, among other functions
